Upon evaluating on my own final project I can certainly say that I developed many insights along the way. For me, this project was very interesting and challenging. Not only due to my final projects format but also it’s subject matter. This is because I decided to collaborate with an academic within the university to create a project on the accessibility of ballet. Further proving a challenge in itself as I myself am not a ballet dancer or have ever practiced ballet, therefore certainly changing overall scope of project and my own personal interests/driving forces towards it. Thus making project a collaboratively driven one, where each of our own strengths were put on the front line in order to aid the other. For example, Denise’s own contacts, knowledge, insights and even her own students formed a lot of the content for the website. Likewise I myself focused on the overall website, construction of it, infographics cards and more. Overall whole project was a group effort as I had many contributors and helpers to aid my project along the way. Further providing me with apt support, critique and useful suggestions in making my overall project (interactive website) even better.
“By far the most challenging project I have ever worked on in terms of overall development with my main skills and software usage.”- Ashish Patel
In critiquing my own development for project I can say that I definitely stepped out of my comfort zone with the equipment I chose and also the pieces of software (e.g Klynt) I initially started to use etc. This would not have been possible however if I didn’t have my own plan of action (when it came to my skill sets). For example, in gathering up equipment to use and making sure to assess suitability, comfortability and also scope. Thus giving myself enough time to practice with the equipment (at least one week before actual shoot) and also to think of some backup options (in the event that equipment may not be available/already in use). This worked very well for my own development (in terms of skills) as it aided my time management skills, how I organised myself and also how much I had planned for shoot (after getting comfortable and prepped with all equipment before hand). One other point would also be that it helped me to set up up faster and also pack down all too, as I also made sure to memorise how each piece of equipment was packed and stored. Further paying attention to set-up (as seen before with my skills instructors showing me how to use and set up equipment).
Personal professional plan
Drawing from my own professional background as a media producer (ongoing internship) for 12 months now has certainly aided and evolved my final project even more. For me, my main passion involves social media, audience insights and producing/distributing content. Therefore before even starting my final project I knew that I wanted to incorporate my own key skills (as a Media Producer) to really grow and develop on my own skills thus far. Therefore aiding me in building a project from the ground up and intricately creating each part of the social campaign myself. Further working on tips, advice and the utilisation of apps (such as ‘Buffer.com) to aid my main project.
As for future opportunities, I hope to keep on building and growing my own final project. Further branching out to more professors (who specialize in transmedia based practices). I also hope to keep website running with my collaborator and build on ‘peoples stories’ element by holding more ballet taster session (in order to distribute/promote project through). Overall, my main aim is to really work on my websites main goal. This being to develop our audiences own knowledge of accessibility whilst also offering them a variety of transmedia based formats for them to be involved with etc. Finally working on notion of ‘Audience Involvement’, as we’ll leave website to for our audiences to grow, spread, develop and build upon. Whilst giving them apt and aid on our main objective for project, whilst also paying a close eye on their own stories and their journey with dance, building ‘Ballet I AM the movement’ up more solidly and distributing its effects, benefits and more to a wider audience (which we hope to do through our website etc.)
